Mirage is a city in the plane of fire, possibly even physically located on Guevis, or else somewhere in the shadow-Koth cast by Guevis’ light. It is a magnificent city of brass, obsidian, and granite that appears all around the South through hazy heat shimmers. There are some places in which it always appears upon certain dates; other places it visits only once, or never, or without a schedule. Regardless, wherever it appears, so do the Mirage Traders.
The denizens of Mirage are of many races and cultures, but most have at least a little elemental blood, whether it be from djinn or jann, from azer, from giant, from salamander, or from some other source. The pureblooded elemental beings are much rarer visitors to Koth, and any sign of their presence signifies extraordinary events. Most speak Brass, Ashmouth, Ahnsan, or another Pyre derivative, whereas the purebloods often speak pure Pyre – a difficult language to master without superheated vocal cords.
The traders of Mirage deal in curiosities and knowledge, in clockwork, in enchantments and curses, in books and in maps, in rare fruits and herd-beasts. They deal in liquors, in drugs, in tobaccos, and in prostitution and slavery. Much can be found at a Mirage Bazaar of the bizarre, for those who know how to look.
